Women with alcohol and/or drug dependencies come to North County Serenity House by self-admission or through a referral agency. Referrals are accepted from agencies such as County of San Diego, Alcohol & Drug Services, Many Nations in Recovery, Palomar Pomerado Health, Interfaith Community Services, Escondido Community Sobering Services, The County Court Systems, Child Welfare Services, Community Health Clinics, Community Research Foundation Crisis Centers, Kaiser and other treatment facilities.

Initial Screening Process

The initial screening process begins with a phone screening questionnaire when the client first calls inquiring about services. An appointment is then made for an initial assessment which is done privately with a certified staff member or qualified intern. All clients are required to answer the same background questions, and complete a drug, alcohol and mental health assessment. This information helps to determine whether we are the appropriate program for the client - and if Residential or Non-residential treatment is appropriate. If NCSH cannot accommodate your program needs, we will help you find the best program.

Client Intake Process and Procedures

1) You must complete a phone screening with staff.
2) You will be given an appointment date and time for your confidential intake.
3) During the intake process,  you will complete an intake packet and meet with our staff.
4) Our staff will determine whether you are appropriate for one of our NCSH programs (Residential or Non-residential). If NCSH cannot accommodate your program needs, we will help you find the best option for treatment.
5) If you are appropriate for one of our programs, you will be advised that you have been accepted. When a bed is available, you will be given a date and time to enter North County Serenity House Center (At times there may be a wait list for a residential bed).
6) Prior to your admission you will be instructed to bring 30 days worth of medication, if applicable. You must be clean and sober a minimum of 72 hours prior to admission.
