NCSH Residential Treatment Services

NCSH Residential TreatmentNCSH Center is a 120 bed residential facility that serves women & women with children who wish to recover from drug or alcohol dependence. We also recognize the importance of serving those clients with co-occurring mental health issues. Our program utilizes a strong basis in the 12-Step traditions to help our women establish a stable, lasting base of support as they begin their journey of recovery.

Our treatment focuses on four main goals:

Stability

The first phase of treatment at NCSH Center is focused on helping the resident gain stability from her drug of choice, and the often chaotic lifestyle of the addict. Each new resident is assigned a “Big Sister” who is a senior resident responsible for helping the new resident become acclimated to the program, learn the rules, and have a friendly face to turn to when needed. In addition, new residents are assigned to specific groups to help educate them about the road ahead, including classes on addiction, relapse prevention, parenting, and personal safety.

NCSH Residential TreatmentSupport

The second phase of treatment at NCSH Center is concerned with helping the resident establish a stable base of sober support outside the program. Recovery from substance dependence doesn’t end when treatment is over, and the second phase of treatment is designed to help create a lasting base of support when the resident graduates our program. This goal is accomplished by introducing the resident to the local 12-Step community including meetings, commitments, and sponsors, who are peer mentors and recovery coaches. During this phase, the resident begins attending community 12-Step meetings and making new sober contacts.

Income

At the third phase of treatment, the resident focuses on establishing some form of income and deepening her recovery resources. During this phase, residents have access to a wide variety of resources including resume writing, job coaches, community career centers, and local employers. We offer classes in Job Readiness, and utilize community resources to help our residents establish or rebuild their finances. In addition, residents deepen their understanding of their personal recovery journey through fearless exploration of their personal story and life history.

Housing

During the final phase of treatment, the resident begins the search for safe, affordable housing and completes the transition from treatment to recovery. As part of our overall treatment modalities, our residents are encouraged to apply for housing at either our transitional housing facility Serenity Village or our permanent female sober-living environment - Friendship House. The final part of the resident’s treatment at NCSH Center is her graduation ceremony, where she passes on the knowledge that she has gained about herself and her journey to the other residents. These ceremonies are a special time for all our residents, as they inspire hope and a continued belief that recovery is possible for all who seek it.

NCSH Residential TreatmentParenting and Perinatal Women

NCSH Center offers a variety of specialized services for our parenting and perinatal residents. Parenting education classes, parenting coaches, and specialized process groups for mothers are part of our weekly curriculum. These groups offer support, guidance, and hope for mothers.

Mental Health Services

NCSH Center is also proud to provide services for women who are living with co-occurring mental health issues. We have a team of on-site clinical staff who are trained to assess and provide group and individual services for women with a variety of common mental health issues including depression, anxiety, and substance-induced symptoms.  We also partner with a variety of community providers when a resident requires more intensive service.

Trauma-Informed Services

Recognizing the impact of trauma in the lives of our clients is central to our treatment. Many of our clients have experienced interpersonal violence and abuse during childhood, adolescence, or adulthood. These individuals often exhibit complex traumatic stress related issues that can lead to severe and persistent mental health and substance abuse issues. By providing comprehensive screening, assessment, and treatment for these specific issues, NCSH Center is able not only to increase the chances of success for these individuals, but also to decrease the likelihood of re-traumatization after treatment.
