Woman of Courage: Cynthia Rivera

NCSH graduate Cynthia Rivera's main priorities upon exiting Serenity House were to obtain stable housing, get a job, and to be an involved mom to her children, Noemi and Juanita. Cynthia obtained all of her goals and continues to enjoy a sober lifestyle while offering support and encouragement to her peers who are struggling with living a sober life within the community.

Cynthia actively participates in her daughter’s school by volunteering and attending events and has recently enrolled them in gymnastics at the local YMCA. Additionally, she has set a new goal of her own: to become more physically fit by using the YMCA gym.

Our Woman of Courage states that if it was just for herself, she is unsure if she would have accomplished as much in her new life. However, she strongly wants her children to have a good life and knows she can provide it for them with hard work and perseverance, providing stability, and by staying clean and sober.
